Navigating the site
We have tried to make this site accessible by organizing all content as much
as possible. At the top of each page you will find a menu which contains the
principal topics of the site. Below this main menu is a submenu which displays
options depending on the selected topic. This submenu may not always contain
links. Besides these menus, there are several topic areas to the right (or at
the bottom if you're using a text based browser), which provide you with
several other navigation options.
Main topics
- home
- This is the main area of the site, with an introductory page, NEdit related
news, a more extensive description of what NEdit can do for you, screenshots,
and links to NEdit related sites.
- downloads
- This is where you will find links to the software, both binaries and source
code, plus instructions on how to build NEdit for yourself, information on
ports to non-Unix ports, and mirrors of the website and ftp archives.
- resources
- There are numerous extensions available for NEdit, such as syntax
highlighting patterns, macros, and various other utilities. This is where you
find the latest versions of these resources.
- documentation
- This is the part of the site containing documentation such as the release
notes for the different versions of NEdit, an online version of the help texts,
the FAQ, and contributed articles, called tech notes in the NEdit
community.
- community
- The NEdit project has an active community of developers and users, which
comminucate mainly through the mailing lists. Furthermore there is a Wiki
dedicated to NEdit, called Niki. You'll find information on all these matters
here, and a wish list.
- troubleshooting
- If you run into trouble using NEdit, and the documentation isn't much help,
this is where you can go to for detailed information on various platform- and
library specific issues.

- Here you can find out how to contact the various people and groups within
the NEdit community.
