Future of NEdit?

I haven't really researched this, but my gut tells me that Ubuntu is
to blame here. I installed Eft on my notebook, and while I was
initially thrilled that everything worked so well, some serious issues
came up little by little.

Currently I have nasty problems because Ubuntu likes UTF, but not all
of the apps do. I'm used to this with NEdit, but not with the terminal.


Now I found out that libmotif-dev is pretty broken, since it not even
depends on Xt or libc. I don't think that Motif is to blame for that.


I will now kick Ubuntu and install Lenny.
