New to nedit

Hi,

I am trying to use nedit 5.5 on aix 5.3.

I have downloaded and started it up ok.

My problem is that none of my character keys seem to work.

If I press the "r" key for example nothing happens (nothing appears on the
screen).

If I press cntrl "r" the replace dialog comes up just as I would expect.

If I press the space bar a space a space will be put in the file - as
expected.

If I press tab a tab appears as expect.

However all of the keys a-z do NOTHING, same with 0-9 ie they dont get
represented on the screen, the cursor doesnt move - NOTHING.

Any help much appreciated
