This is a fairly recent problem using NEdit on Ubuntu 8.04.

1. In a terminal window if I run "nedit" or "ncl" (not specifying a file
name) and then use File/Open then NEdit crashes immediately with a
Segmentation fault. The same thing happens if I use either "Save" or
Save As".

2. 1. In a terminal window if I run "nedit" or "ncl" (not specifying a
file name) and then use File/Previous and pick a file, then NEdit works
correctly. But then it crashes if I use File/Save As. But it does not
crash if I use "Save".

3. In a terminal window if I run "nedit" or "ncl" specifying an existing
file modify it then use File/Save As then NEdit crashes immediately. But
it does not crash if I use "Save".

Any hints?

Here is what nedit -V gives:
   UTF8 locale not supported.

Hope this is easy to fix.
