(0,0) placement of new windows - sometimes

I experience that nedit sometimes (20%-60% of the time) ignores any placement
hints from the window manager.

Eg. on an otherwise empty screen, I open a xterm window a (0,0), and then
repeatedly start/stop nedit. About half of the time it is placed on top of
the xterm window at (0,0) instead of somewhere else where it doesn't obscure
anything. I am not entirely sure that it is nedit's fault, but I have not
seen this behaviour with any other application.

Has anyone except me seen this behaviour?

Version 5.5
Environment:
	Linux,
	x86 (actually x86-64, but nedit is 32bit)
	KDE 3.5.1 level "a"
kwin configured to do smart placement
	xinerama enabled
