variable existence checking

The main problem for me is the filename_dialog() absence.

I applied the patch to yesterday's snapshot and see two warnings.

patching file source/window.c
Hunk #5 FAILED at 985.
Hunk #24 FAILED at 4429.
2 out of 25 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file source/window.c.rej

Compiled NEdit works. I did not test it but seen that resource
nedit*calltip.fontList: .............
does not change calltip font.
