Splitting panes with multiple files

I agree.

I am still using version 5.4, so I have no multi-tab functionality. 
Presently I just manually drag the windows so that two nedit windows 
fill the desktop. Switch between these two windows is quite easy with 
mouth. However, I bet that there will be a big difference for people 
used to multi-tab editing.
