No, but my camera, printer, drawing tablet, and DV camcorder did.
Nothing to install, let alone build. Scanner did need a driver,
included on CD.

I'll cede the point that having to download VLC before you can double
click it to watch DVDs from any region does not constitute "just
working" out of the box. :-)
