It does require migrating the content to a different markup syntax. I'm
in the process of extracting the content from Niki, and purging all
spam. A rough estimate shows that about 380 of the 2870 files in Niki
actually contain valid material, and part of that is . This brings us to
the matter of preserving the history of all pages. This would require
far more work than just migrating the latest content. Does anyone have a
strong case for preserving the history in the new Wiki?
Anyway, volunteers are welcome to help set up the new wiki, which is
temporarily available at http://nedit.hackvalue.nl/niki (the alternative
domain is pending a migration of other parts of nedit.org). For the time
being you can create your own account, and start editing. If that proves
to be too lenient to prevent spammers, we'll tighten up the security.
The partly cleaned up page collection can be downloaded from
ftp://ftp.nedit.org/pub/NEdit/contrib/misc/niki-contents-07-07-2007.tgz.
Let me know if anything is missing.
BTW, Joachim Lous pointed me to
http://www.wikimatrix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=421, which should help
converting content, although it is written in C#.
http://www.webforce.co.nz/phpwiki2mediawiki.php.txt might prove more
useful, but appears to be broken.
