it's not ;-) i know these pattern, but unfortunately they are insufficient, i 
had to fix and extend. this leads me directly to my second point: if there 
were some kind of repository there would be only one ruby pattern which would 
be perfect.
when i say repository i don't exclusively mean svn. i think of some 
forge-style database where developers *can* use a svn-repository to keep 
track of their "software", and users can download the releases via 
point-and-click.
if this infrastructure is set up we *could* build some CPANish package system 
for automatic download and installation.
