nedit does not respond to key events on the popups

This is usually a packaging error in your distro, and is usually caused 
by upgrading to an unstable or incompatible version of LessTif.  I'd 
submit a bug report to your distro.

We suggest running the binary from nedit.org, which links against a 
stable Motif.

(There is a reason why chose static linking for Linux.  You just ran 
into it.)
