I have two reasons for suggesting to put the ftp tree on SF:

* easy maintenance by the developers, including means to automatically
update nightly builds, snapshots, tarballs, etc.

* an easy way of mirroring the ftp site to systems that want to host it,
and there are quite a few of these, judging by the server logs. Since
the website itself has been on SF for years, it makes sense to me to put
the ftp site there too.

Since the server that we intend to move nedit.org to will not run an FTP
server, we've arranged for an alternative at NLUUG (www.nluug.nl, the
Dutch Unix user group). They don't allow direct uploads, but we will
maintain the repository by checking out the tree from SF, and NLUUG will
rsync it on their server.
