Not a KDE bug, but there's a KDE feature to help you out. The problem
you encounter is not really solvable in principle: whenever an app pops
up a new window, am I right then inside some workflow where I'm typing
away and being interrupted would cause random parts of my typing being
sent to the wrong app, or do I want the popup window focussed right
away? Fortunately KDE gives you some control over where you want to put
your personal point of operation: kcontrol (now called personal
settings): Desktop->Window Behaviour-> tab Advanced->Focus stealing
prevention level. That setting probably changed if you now think things
are vastly different than before. Experiment with those levels; I
haven't found one which always suits me best.
