So far roughly a thousand folks have signed this petition.  Is
anyone on this list who really is against an open source Motif 
and CDE?

Otherwise, shouldn't the NEdit project join in the petition to
support it some more?  

If there should be more for NEdit in the future than to stay with
OSF Motif v1.2 (even more outdated than v2.*), I believe we would
really need an open source Motif - or a toolkit change, which seems
even more out of reach than getting Motif freed.
