taking 15 years off isn't doing anything for me

hello list,

i've been trying to make Nedit look half okay, but didn't succeed by trying the 'taking 15 years off' example on the Nedit website. I'm using fc5 (which might be the reason nothing works ... :) but is there some way i can decrease the shoutingly large menufonts etc.

I've tried .Xresources, .Xdefaults etc. but helas.  
Nedit looks really looks very dorky at the moment here but works nicely

Can someone point me in the right direction
