Yes, that's the start of the thread.  My final conclusion was

The underlying problem is the relation between a document and
different views of the document (in nedit's language between a file
and a window, where originally 'file' and 'window' were the same
thing by the one-file-one-window policy).

There is a somewhat similar 'review' from Tony in the patch tracker
that I would consider at least as qualified as my comments ;-)
