copy paste problem

which is the so called Debian stable build.

Now as long as I'm using only this nedit w/o interactions with
other X clients copy&paste is working like it should. To make
it simple: Open a new window, give in "string", select it,
Ctrl-c, and then Ctrl-v pastes "string" in the nedit window as
often as you like.

Now I switch to the xterm and give in "xclipboard &". Then the
xclipboard comes up empty! 

(It should contain "string" as it does when I would have used

A couple of seconds later the xclipboard displays
"CLIPBOARD selection conversion failed". 

After that message, Ctrl-v doesn't paste "string" in the
nedit window any more. I can repeat the procedure, ie,
copying "string" again and then pasting, which works until
a couple of seconds later the xclipboard issues the same
message.

Now there is a second problem. Close nedit and the
xclipboard. Open nedit again. Copying and pasting work
fine again. Now open Mozilla's Composer, copy something in
the nedit window and try to paste it into the Composer
window. What happens is that the Composer gets locked for
around 2 or 3 seconds, where you can do nothing. There is
nothing pasted, either. After that you can work on. With
the nedit using Motif the string is pasted correctly, no
locking.

If you don't believe, simply try it yourself. My guess
is that also the latest lesstif, although there has some
work been done concerning CLIPBOARD, still doesn't work
completely. But using only nedit (no interactions) there
is no problem.
