You're starting netcat, which is often called 'nc' too. Make sure the
location of the nedit client nc comes before the location of netcat in
your path (/usr/bin?). Alternatively, since you're apparently not
familiar with netcat, rename the netcat nc binary to something like, oh,
netcat.
