Unless things are very different in the Windows world (which might be 
the case) the decision on building LessTif statically should be totally 
separate from the decision on building the X libraries statically.  You 
might want to ask about this on the LessTif mailing list -- it would 
make the user experience more smooth if they didn't have to worry about 
installing compatibility libraries.

I understand that.  What I don't get is why it matters WRT building 
LessTif.
