it seems your "parse.y" was/is different. I still get an error.
I started with the lasest source in CVS, then applied your V3 patch, and had no problem at this step.
However, when I tried to patch the one of which "in between", I got:
patch: **** malformed patch at line 6: subroutine"); YYERROR;
