I have made Linux-x86-32bit static NEdit.
The binary is compiled against Debian's (testing)
libice-1.0.4-1
libsm-1.0.3-2
libx11-1.1.5-2
libxext-1.0.4-1
libxmu-1.0.4-1
libxpm-3.5.7-1
libxt-1.0.5-3
libmotif3-2.2.3-4

I use static NEdit compiled against Debian's libmotif 2.2 
a long time (approximately one year) and it is stable for me.
