Summary: Problems opening files with Nedit 5.3 on RedHat
Initial Comment:
I cant seem to open files/folders when i go into the
Open file screen. When i double click on a folder, the
Filter button animates, but nothing on the screen
changes. I found i can type the path of the folder i
want to get on on the top Filter line, which would take
me to the folder i needed, but when i double click on a
file, Nedit tells me "Please select a file to open",
and the same happens if i press the Open button instead
of double clicking it.

I have a similar problem, except if can sometimes open a file, but then
after
it's open I don't have access on the toolbar and can't even edit the
text.
My version :
NEdit 5.4
Nov 20, 2003
it's running on debian/knoppix linux. I had similar pbs on all the debian
built
nedit I tested (on 3 computers)
Built on: Linux, 486, GNU C
Built at: Mar 19 2004, 08:03:57
With Motif: 2.1.0 [@(#)GNU/LessTif Version 2.1 Release 0.93.94]
(UNTESTED)
Running Motif: 2.1 [unknown]
Server: The XFree86 Project, Inc 40300000
Visual: 16-bit TrueColor (ID 0x22, Default)
Locale: fr_FR at euro

Do you see slash, asterisk (/*) as the last two characters
in the Filter field?
Do you use KDE? If yes, tell KDE not to apply KDE colors to
other apps and see if that helps.

Please send us the first 8 lines from "Help > Version" (or the
output from "nedit -V") which will give us extra information to
help us reproduce your problem.
