Summary: One line of text repeats across the entire window

Initial Comment:
Running

NEdit 5.5 on
Gentoo x86 with
xorg-x11 7.1 and
openmotif 2.2.3

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a file that requires scrolling
2. "Ctrl+End" (go to the end of the file)
3. repeat "Up Arrow" until the buffer must be scrolled to reveal lines closer to the beginning of the file

At this point, the screen "explodes" - the new line appears at the top of the view, but the line below it is copied to every other visible line in the view.

http://idefix.go-nix.ca/nix/nedit-bug.mpeg (5.2 MB)

is a xvidcap-generated MPEG file illustrating the problem. I have tried making it an attachment, but the browser seems to time out while submitting this form when I do that.

Please let me know if you need more information, and TIA for your help :o)

Thanks.

(Closed: probably a dupe of #1579544, #1030467, and #1030192.)

NEdit 5.5
Sep 30, 2004

Built on: Linux, 386, GNU C
     Built at: Feb 18 2007, 10:53:08
   With Motif: 2.2.3 [@(#)Motif Version 2.2.3]
Running Motif: 2.2 [unknown]
       Server: The X.Org Foundation 70101000
Visual: 24-bit TrueColor (ID 0x21, Default)
       Locale: C

XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 does indeed seem to fix the problem. Thank you!

This is possibly caused by the ARGB visuals in Xorg 6.8+.

Please try "XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 nedit". If that works, we have a fix
in CVS.

Please send us the first 10 lines from "Help > Version" (or the
output from "nedit -V") which will give us extra information to
help us reproduce your problem.
