It provides intensive support for development in a wide variety of languages, text processors, and other tools, but at the same time can be used productively by just about anyone who needs to edit text. NEdit, which is entirely a volunteer effort, benefits from a strong developer and user community. As of version 5.1, NEdit may be freely distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

NEdit was originally developed on a Unix system and is available on all major Unix and Linux systems. But NEdit can also run on other platforms, if there is a working X Window environment available. For instance, NEdit runs on MacOS X, OS/2 and MS Windows. The platforms and toolkit pages contain more details.

The current stable release of NEdit is version 5.5. Have a look at the feature list if you want to find out what NEdit can do for you. If you are familiar with NEdit, but you want to know what the latest release has to offer, check out the release notes. If you are convinced of NEdit’s merits, you probably want to download it. If you want to participate in the discussion on NEdit’s usage and development, consider joining one of the mailing lists. If you’ve encountered a problem or you think you’ve discovered a bug, read the trouble shooting page for suggestions.

If you are just starting to learn how to create and build webpages then one useful thing that you should learn is that a simple program such Notepad can be very effective there. It can be a learning tool that you can start with as you are just beginning. After you have learned more, then you can start moving on towards even more complicated programs that are now available.

Notepad for Web Page Creation

Though Notepad does not have the features of programs that were specifically built for web page creation such as Dreamweaver, it can still be very useful. If you are going to use Notepad for this purpose then you should know a little about HTML. The letters stand for Hyper Text Markup Language and it is a form of coding that is most commonly used in webpages today. Most people who are starting to learn HTML and Web page creation normally use Notepad.

Limitations of Notepad

Though Notepad is simple to use and easy to navigate, there are severe limitations to it, especially when it comes to its use for creating webpages. Since it was designed to save the files you are working on using a .TXT extension, it can be a problem if you have to do a lot of HTML. You might also be limited with the number of HTML files that you can work on.

Common Mistakes with Using Wordpad

The great thing about Notepad aside from the fact that it is quite easy to use is that it comes free with your Windows OS. That does not mean that there not going to be any challenges when it comes to using it. There are some problems that you might encounter when you’re using Notepad especially for creating web pages.

One of the more common mistakes that some people make is using Wordpad instead of Notepad. Those two programs are different and using Wordpad can give your very different results. Another common mistake that people make when using Notepad for creating web pages is that they forget to change the file extension. By default Notepad will save files as .TXT and what you need lis the .HTM extension. Forgetting to change that can cause you some trouble later on. You better learn not to commit that mistake as early as possible.

Despite its shortcomings this simple program can be very useful for websites like Oneflare for creating informative webpages.

If you’re into using a PC then you’re probably familiar with both Notepad and MS Paint. These are two programs that go with Windows Operating Systems. These programs can be very practical and handy and you can use them for a variety of purposes.

Common Uses of Notepad

I find Notepad to be very handy whenever I am doing some research. I can write down or paste things on it that I found during my research, just as a physical notepad would work. Unlike full word processing programs such MS Word, notepad isn’t really for creating text documents. There is no way that you can format what you write in there except in the most basic form. You cannot change the font, highlight or bold anything.

As I have mentioned, the program is ideal for those doing research and also for someone taking down a dictation. You can type down what pops to your head quickly without having to worry about fonts and spacing and all that. You can just come back to it later on and copy whatever you have written.

Personally I find it useful when copying something from the web. The problem with copying from web pages is that you get to copy the font used there as well. When you paste in the page that you’re working on, you would have to do some formatting first. It would be faster if you just copy the material paste it on the notepad and then copy what you have on the Notepad and paste it on the page that you’re working on. That would follow the format and font that you have. That would be a faster process.

Common Uses of Paint

Paint is a very simple program used for drawing and editing simple images. It’s not like Photoshop but it can be very handy for painters.

You can use it for resizing the images that you are working on. There’s a button for that function and you can use it for changing the size of the image that you have. You can also copy sections of images and then post it until you have got the section that you need. You can also rotate the image in any direction and other simple functions.

Again this is not Photoshop and you can’t do amazing magazine layouts on it, but for quick and simple tasks it should be enough.
